Part of the Milky Way Galaxy arching across the heavens.
A first for me, as someone who pretty much resides and dwells in the city most of my life, I don't believe I have ever seen the Milky Way in all its true glory until now. The city lights obscure the skies and the stars. But I decided to make the 4 and half hour venture to the true dark skies of Cherry Springs State Park, PA. Planned it around the waxing moon and a nice Canadian cold front to allow for crisp clear skies Memorial Day weekend. It is truly one of the darkest skies for light pollution on the east coast of the US. The closest city is 60 miles away and it sits in the middle of a forest.
