10/2014 Cunningham Falls, Catoctin Mountains, Thurmont, Maryland
This photograph was taken at the top of the falls, just where the trail ends and the stream becomes the falls. While climbing the top I came across this rock creation. Seemed worthy of a photo since someone took the time to create this.

Cunningham Falls State Park is a state park located west of Thurmont, Maryland, USA, on Catoctin Mountain. It features a 43-acre (17 ha) man-made lake and its namesake waterfall, Cunningham Falls. Cunningham Falls is a 78-foot (24 m) cascade, the largest cascading waterfall in Maryland. Catoctin Mountain Park borders the state park to the north. Catoctin Furnace, the remains of a historic iron furnace, can be toured in the park.

I really like the effect from the fisheye lens. Makes the trees seem like they are protecting the stream. And they highlight the interesting rock and leaf design. Very nice.

Wonderful photo Shawn. Love the perspective. The rock creation is reminiscent of an Inukshuk, which is a stone landmark built by people living in the Arctic regions. I have a photo of one in my galleries. They are remarkable works of art and you have captured this beautifully.
